Air Force Creed composed for the men and women who enlist and serve in the United States Air Force. The Creed was introduced back in 2007 by General T. Michael Moseley. At that time, Moseley was serving as the Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, but also decided that the warrior spirit and the ethos of the Air Force should be reinvigorated.

This lead to the creation of Airman’s Creed , which was supposed to provide US Airmen with a single powerful statement of the force’s core beliefs. Instead of the Air Force being perceived as a conglomeration of many different specialties, jobs, or skill sets, the the Creed has the purpose of making a strong bond between all those who serve.

Air Force Creed Declaration

The  Creed opens with a first-person narrative of an American Airman, who declares that he is just that. The creed also states that besides being an Airman, he is also a warrior and that this warrior answered his nation’s call. It declares that he is an American Airman and that his mission is to fly, fight and win, providing this way the elementary setup of the primary Air Force mission and purpose.

The  Creed then states that the same Airman is faithful to a very proud heritage and a long tradition of honor. It states that this Airman is a legacy of valor. Again, the the Creed declares that the narrator is an American Airman. The same Airman is described as the guardian of justice and freedom. Furthermore, he is shown to be the sword and shield of his nation, but also both its Sentry and its avenger.

US Air Force

Air Force Creed states that this Airman will defend his country with his life and that he is an American Airman. The Creed then cites Air Force roles of Wingman and Leader, but ties them directly to the notion of the Warrior, which all Airmen essentially are. The  Creed closes with the idea of the narrator declaring that he will never leave another Airman behind. It ends with the promise that the same Airman will never falter and that he will never fail.

From the wording and the construction of the Air Force Creed, it is clear that it carries a powerful message to all those who serve in this branch of the armed forces. In it, the entire diverse purpose of the US Air Force is shown in its full power and awe. By memorizing it, all Airmen can create a strong link with each other, but also the Air Force itself. The same  Creed can now be purchased and owned by all those who share their beliefs and finds inspiration in its mighty words.
