Operation Iraqi Freedom gives citizens security and peace. It is common knowledge that Iraq is one of the countries that are most insecure in the world. For many years there has been widespread violence which has gone against human rights in the country. The government of the United States of America is contributing greatly to the maintenance of security in Kuwait and Iraq.

Following the attacks which took place on September 11, 2001, the government of the US diverted attention to the rule of Saddam Hussein. This is because Iraq was still in the process of making weapons of mass destruction. It was also supporting the missions of Osama Bin Laden. On March 19, 2003, the United States president launched Operation Iraqi Freedom to ensure peace and political stability in Iraq.

The objective of Operation Iraqi Freedom

The program was launched in order to overthrow the rule of Saddam Hussein who was a dictator. This mission was aimed at disabling the tyrannical dictator from manufacturing weapons of mass destruction. These weapons posed a challenge to the lives of innocent citizens. Saddam Hussein had gone against the resolutions of the UN hence manufacturing biological and chemical weapons.

President Bush got the support of Belgium and Spain to achieve the objective of bringing down Hussein. In many of his speeches, Bush was quoted saying,’ Terrorism must come to an end.  Operation Iraqi Freedom tried its best to achieve an end to terrorism but we must continue.

Units and Divisions Involved In Operation Iraqi Freedom

The operation was supported by troops from the United States of America, Australia, the United Kingdom and Poland. By 18, February 2003, 100,000 troops had been assembled in Kuwait to plan for the start of this operation. The troops agreed on one mission to disarm Iraq hence limiting Saddam from manufacturing weapons of mass destruction. The troops started the mission on March 19, 2003.

Military Bases in Iraq during the Operation Iraqi Freedom

The armed forces of the United States of America had many bases during the OIF. The bases that were in place are; the forward operating base, logistic base, firebase, joint security station, and contingency operating base among others. Other bases set in Kuwait are Camp Arifjan, Camp Victory and Camp Virginia.

Due to the hard task given to the military forces some of the men and women involved were given military rings as a sign of appreciation. This jewellery is given to the military forces to honour their positive contribution to humanity. The jewellery can last forever since they are made out of valuable and durable material. The operation for freedom was purposely meant to restore peace in Iraq. This is an insight.
